Reed Banks 1 & 2 Controls

There are two Reed Banks modelled in Peti, with the same parameters available independently for each Bank. These Reed Banks are responsible for the basic timbre of the instrument. However the two Reed Banks are not identical, which means that swapping settings between Bank 1 and Bank 2 may change the overall sound.

Parameters are:


• Brighter : Adds more high frequencies in the timbre.
• Harmonics: Two different harmonic 'flavours' for each Reed Bank.
• Modulation: This parameter controls the overall amount of harmonics added.

Global Controls :

• Resonance: This parameter sets how much physical resonance is modelled to simulate the wooden body of the Harmonium.
• Chorus: This parameter controls the effect which is often called 'musette' or 'tremolo' in accordian terminology.
• Ratio: This parameter changes the pitch difference between the two Reed Banks.
• Breath: This parameter controls the amount of 'air noise'.
• Keys: This parameter controls the amount of keyboard noise simulated.
• Volume: This parameter controls the output level of Peti.
• Pitch: This parameter controls the master fine-tuning setting.
• Velocity Sensivity: This parameter allows you to adjust the instrument's response to MIDI velocity.
• MaxVoices: This parameter sets the polyphony of Peti, from 1 (mono legato) to 16.
• Keyboard Coupler: This control emulates a mechanical 'coupler' which is found in some Harmoniums. It causes two notes to be played simultaneously by one key, with an interval which may be set to an octave, a fourth, or a fifth.
• Scale Changer: This control shifts the keyboard pitch up to 5 semitones up or down. This allows the player to change key but retain the same fingering, e.g. to play Eb major scale all on white keys.

Requirements for Windows

Peti is designed as a VSTi plugin, which works under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It currently also runs under Windows 98, but this is not a supported platform. It comes in two versions, one optimised for SSE-capable processors, and one which works with older processors without the SSE instruction set. A minimum 1Ghz processor is recommended.

Installation

Peti comes with an installer, which tries to locate the default VstPlugIns folder in your system. It will ask you to confirm this as the correct location where it will install the plugin (.dll) file. At this stage, you can specify an alternate folder. However, Peti must be installed into a location which your host will search for plugins. (Note: if you use a 'wrapper' program, e.g. the Cakewalk VST-DX adaptor, ensure you rescan your plugin folders with the adaptor)
